Eye examinations are available free of charge under the NHS for the following:

• Children every year, up to the age of 16 years.
• Teenagers between 16 years and 19 years, who are still receiving full time education, every 2 years.
• Aged 60, up to 70 years, every 2 years.
• Aged 70 years and older, every year.
• Those suffering from diabetes, or glaucoma, every year.
• Those aged 40 years and over, related to someone with glaucoma, every year.
• Those who receive DHSS benefits
• You may be exempt if you receive sickness, unemployment, disability, pension credits, or other benefits.
• Those with a complex prescription.
